Game Of Thrones For Crypto Kingdom Intensifies, Another Copyright Filed For Bitcoin

Satoshi Nakamoto is arguably the most famous anonymous personality of modern times, who has been able to garner interests from all walks of businesses globally. Ownership of Bitcoin white paper, in fact, is as powerful as being the heir to the Iron Throne itself!

A war with arms and armies is already on in the crypto space to claim the ownership of the apex white paper. Craig Wright, till date, has been one of the strong contenders to being Nakamoto, as he has taken the legal route to claim what he thinks is rightfully his. However, the twists in the “I am Nakamoto” saga don’t seem to stop popping now and then.

At a time when the world is debating over the legitimacy of Wright’s claim, another copyright registration for the white paper has appeared on the public listing of the United States Copyright Office. The new registration is filed by someone named Wei Liu, who also has placed a claim on working under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto to create Bitcoin. The filing is dated May 24, just an over a month after Wright filed for Nakamoto’s white paper ownership on 11th April.

There is no information on who Wei Liu is, or what’s the reason for him to file the copyright registration. It could, however, be a move to counter Wright’s claim, as most of the industry experts and major participants discarded his claim stating he was a fraud. Wright didn’t take the rejection too well and started sending legal notices to whoever rejected his claim, before filing the copyright in April.

A registration, however, is not a recognition of ownership by the U.S. Copyright Office. The copyright process allows the applicant to register a work but doesn’t recognize him/her to be the inventor or creator. In an official statement to the press, the Copyright Office stated,

As a general rule, when the Copyright Office receives an application for registration, the claimant certifies as to the truth of the statements made in the submitted materials. The Copyright Office does not investigate the truth of any statement made.

What this essentially means is that neither Craig Wright nor Wei Liu is the inventor of Bitcoins. And therefore, the Iron Throne of the Crypto Kingdom still awaits its rightful heir, Satoshi Nakamoto.
