Beyond the hype: With 1.1 million resource pack NFTs generated in 100 days Aftermath Islands shows that the metaverse has arrived

Much has been said about virtual and augmented reality platforms and the Metaverse over the last few years. Facebook rebranded to Meta, Decentraland sold virtual land plots for tens of thousands of dollars, and corporations and projects big and small jumped on the bandwagon. Unfortunately, more often than not, these moonshots were abandoned, with the failure of countless Metaverse initiatives such as those of Meta, or Microsoft’s AltspaceVR and hyped Solana-based NeoNexus, all decried by skeptics as failed and useless, with a combination of design flaws, high onboarding costs, a lack of interest, limited utility, lackluster experiences, fraudulent accounts, and bot activity all contributing to their downfall.

There is, however, a project that has gained traction in recent months. Aftermath Islands Metaverse is a virtual world of highly realistic theme-based islands, communities, and estates. The platform is supported by proprietary technology from Liquid Avatar Technologies called Proof of Humanity. Proof of Humanity has created what is called a Meta Park Pass™, an innovative blockchain use-case that uses facial mapping and blockchain-based verifiable credentials to guarantee that there can only be one user to one account, thereby eliminating bot and fake or duplicate accounts. This technology is accessible via the Liquid Avatar Mobile App and is available in over 100 countries and regions around the world from Apple’s App Store and Google Play.

By creating a verified account and entering the Aftermath Islands virtual world, users can participate in a wide range of highly entertaining, interactive, and engaging activities and experiences, all of which are designed to deliver verifiable and quantifiable utility and/or returns. One of the platform’s first gaming releases is a P2E title called The Lost Kingdom of T’Sara. Over 1.1 million unique user accounts signed up for and minted Resource Pack NFTs for the game in fewer than 100 days – an average of over 10,000 Resource Packs being minted per day. These NFTs can be used in-game for creating in-game materials and assets, all of which can be traded on the in-game Metaverse marketplace.

The marketplace can be accessed through the Events Pavilion, which acts as a focal point for players who join the Aftermath Islands world. Located on Clubhouse Island, it is where players start their virtual journeys. It is also where brands and organizations can create exciting events and experiences to engage with visitors and players.

Aftermath Islands is much more than just a virtual world in which people can participate in games and activities of their choosing. It is made using exemplary and highly realistic virtual environments that run on Unreal Engine 5 and feature high-fidelity graphics to deliver a rich, no-download, browser-based experience across desktops, mobile devices, and tablets. This makes it fun and rewarding to work, play, and socialize within the Aftermath Islands world. However, thanks to tie-ins with the platform’s native crypto utility token, in-game activities can generate real returns. Gone are the days when crypto returns rely on the whims of the market or investor speculation; with Aftermath Islands, your on-platform activities can generate real returns, and in-game/on-platform activities create real utility. In this way, Aftermath Islands helps to bridge the gaps between real-world and virtual activities across the domains of entertainment, education, collaboration, and more.

According to David Lucatch, the Managing Director of Aftermath Islands Metaverse and CEO of Liquid Avatar Technologies, the significance of reaching the 1 million + Resource Pack NFT minting milestone is that it was done with real users that have only one account. There are no duplicate accounts, fake accounts, or bots – and all of this was achieved within 100 days. This shows that it is possible to work within the decentralized Web3 landscape and still provide users with the right to own, manage, and control their data and stay anonymous and succeed as a business within the blockchain world.

With in-game virtual currency, homes, commercial properties, wearables, and collectibles available on the platform, as well as the ability to fully verify avatars and build owner-owned-and-controlled stores, events, and other programs, Aftermath Islands is not just pushing the envelope when it comes to advancements in blockchain and the Metaverse but is also positioning itself to be a fully-functional and self-contained Metaverse ecosystem that has the opportunities and experiences for players, brands, and businesses to interact in new and rewarding ways.

Aftermath Islands is also bridging gaps between Web2 and Web3 activities and has the potential to succeed where other projects have failed by ensuring user engagement, exceptional design and interactivity, ease-of-access, seamless user onboarding, entertaining activities, real-world utility, and interesting experiences – all for real, verified users and accounts, without the fraudulent accounts or activities that have plagued other Metaverse initiatives.

It is still early innings and the jury is still out on where Aftermath Islands and the Metaverse will go from here, but if recent developments and the user traction that Aftermath Islands has generated over the last quarter are any indication, the sky’s the limit for virtual experiences and opportunities in Aftermath Islands of every conceivable kind.
