Alibaba Introduces Online Platform to fight against COVID-19

Alibaba has been among the foremost corporate giants that are contributing towards the fight against the deadly novel Coronavirus, the pandemic that has shocked the entire planet. As of date, the virus has victimized more than 470,000 people in 195+ countries, killing over a 21,000. The world needs a concerted effort to fight COVID-19, and the e-commerce giant’s latest effort will push this agenda forward. In a tweet on Thursday, Jack Ma informed that they had launched an online platform, where doctors, nurses, and hospitals can exchange ideas, lessons, and know-how to fight the virus, which is spreading more by the day.

Prior to this, the Alibaba Foundation had established the Global MediXchange, aimed at enhancing the ease of communication and collaboration across the borders, and to provide the necessary computer-related facilities and data intelligence to researchers. “Now, we can’t beat this virus unless we share our resources, know-how and hard-earned lessons,” Jack Ma was quoted saying by the new knowledge exchange platform

According to the website, the platform has established to provide the frontline medical teams across the globe with necessary communication channels to share practical experience about fighting the pandemic, which is said to have first spread in the Wuhan, a city in China’s Hubei Province. Besides the vital digital assistance, Jack Ma has also been involved in supplying essential medical kits and masks to several regions, including the US, and a number of Asian countries.

In another tweet, Ma emphasized that the world needs to fight the pandemic as one world, as he informed the Latin American countries. He said,

“One world, one fight! We will donate emergency supplies – 2 million masks, 400K test kits, 104 ventilators – to 24 Latin American countries including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, Dominican Republic and Peru. We will ship long-distance, and we will hurry! WE ARE ONE!”
