Amazon Decides to Donate Millions of Products from Third-Party Sellers to Charities in US and UK

Some of the most significant and most valuable companies in the world are often urged to work towards charitable endeavors on a daily basis by charities, governments, and activists. More often than not, all those companies work towards those goals, and some companies often go above and beyond their commitments.

Amazon is certainly one of those companies, which is suitably large and has done its bit over the years when it comes to charities. In a new development, the company has introduced a program by way of which, the unsold products from its third-party vendors are going to be donated to charities in the United Kingdom and the United States.

All such unwanted products are eventually thrown away by the company, but clearly, it was a waste and now the company wants to give those products away to those in need. The initiative is being fronted by the company’s charity arm known as Amazon Donations and the unsold products are going to be handed over to select charities in the two countries.

In addition to select non-profit organizations in the US, select UK charities like the Salvation Army, Barnado’s and Newlife are going to be the main beneficiaries of this new initiative. In the past Amazon used to throw away product from third parties that were either unsold or had been returned or had some manufacturing defect.

However, the company is no longer going to indulge in that as it tries to help charities who are fighting against long odds in order to give underprivileged people a better life.

Amazon’s director of its charitable division, Alice Shobe stated,

We know getting products into the hands of those who need them transforms lives and strengthens local communities, We are delighted to extend this program to sellers who use our fulfillment services.

The initiative will go live from September 1, and it will give options to the third-party vendors on its platform to opt-in for Amazon Donations. Needless to say, there is absolutely no reason for the vendors to not opt for this initiative since, at the end of the day, their products are thrown away anyway.

The Chief Executive Officer of the non-profit Good360 Matt Connelly stated,

There’s never been a greater need for support, and the collaboration between Amazon and Good360 is helping to fill that gap.
