Australian Open Extends Partnership with Uber

Australian Open has extended its partnership with Uber to continue being its Official Online Food Delivery App and Official Ridesharing Partner.

Uber had signed the initial deal to be an official rideshare partner in the year 2019, post which they have now bagged a multi-year contract with AO.

Uber app users can now access the exclusive pick-up and drop-off services at Melbourne Park. Customers can also order their preferred meals and snacks at home and even in the stands with Uber Eats new campaign specifically designed for the Australian Open.

Ben Slack, Tennis Australia Chief Revenue and Experiential Officer, said they are pleased and excited to welcome back Uber as their official sponsor and partner for 2021. Slack is quite impressed by Uber’s entertaining campaigns designed in collaboration with Nine broadcast. They include big names both on and off the tennis court to make captivating campaigns for their customers.

David Griffiths, Head of Marketing for Uber East, was delighted to get the opportunity to continue their collaboration with the Australian Open. 

He further shared his campaigning plans, and how they are willing to demonstrate their ‘love’ for Australians by combining the best of native tennis talent with one of the most famous international stars, Sacha Baron Cohen, for their latest campaign – Tonight, I’ll Be Eating for Love.

Griffiths said designing compelling brand campaigns helps them enhance their sales by impressing and delighting their existing customers and attracting new customers to use their cab services and food ordering platform.

Since 1972 during the last fortnight of January at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Australia, the Australian Open tennis tournament has been held every year. The Australian Open is the first among the four Grand Slam tennis events organized every year for tennis players and tennis lovers. It is succeeded by the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.

Uber is an American tech company offering a wide range of services, including cab services, food delivery, package and courier delivery services, freight transportations, etc. It also provides electric bike and scooter rental services in partnership with Lime.
