Binance Charity Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Binance, launched the Crypto Against COVID campaign by launching the PPE stablecoin on Friday. PPE token will ensure that 200,000 masks sent to New York City reach the health workers. As per a Twitter thread, BCF posted yesterday; the PPE token is valued at $0.2 apiece.
The Coronavirus pandemic has shocked the entire world, killing more than 276,000 people out of the 4 million+ infected. At least 210 countries in the world have been affected by the deadly virus, with almost a third of them being under total lockdown.
The United States has been the worst-hit country, and the health system of the world’s largest economic and political superpower has been put to its biggest test of the century. The US alone accounts for more than 1.3 million COVID19 positive cases, and over 78,600 deaths as of date. The state of New York has over 330,000 patients, 182,000+ of them alone in New York City, with more than 21,000 deaths.
In a subsequent tweet, BCF stated that PPE tokens could be transferred from wallets to the couriers, and they, in turn, can redeem PPE for fiat at the very last step with the help of Binance Charity.
Following hospitals will receive the first batch of 200,000 masks:
NY Presbyterian Hospital
Mount Sinai Hospital
Lenox Hill Hospital
Montefiore Medical Center
Mount Sinai Beth Israel
Maimonides Medical Center
Staten Island University Hospital
