Binance.US has decided to take a snapshot of OMG tokens held by users at the first Ethereum (L1) block, and will further distribute BOBA tokens at the ratio 1OMG=1BOBA. The estimated time is subject to change and is just for reference as of now. According to sources like this Binance review, the company is predicted to maintain its position as the global leader in cryptocurrency exchange.
In preparation for the snapshot, deposits and withdrawal of OMG tokens will be temporarily disabled on November 11, 2021, at around 6.45 pm EST/3.45 pm PST. Trading, however, will not be affected.
The tokens that are pending will not count towards OMG balances. The users are hence cautioned to complete pending withdrawals and deposits well before the set time for the snapshot. The caveat issued says that to receive a BOBA airdrop, the user needs to have a minimum of 0.1 OMG(excluding pending orders)in the user’s Binance.US account.
Just like for other token listings, Binance.US will follow the strict listing review process to determine whether to support buying, selling, and trading of BOBA on their platform.
The token distribution by Binance.US will happen only after the network is stable. There will be no delivery fee. The final result will be that once the binance.US customers have the Boba tokens that they are eligible for, they can transmit the same to wallets that are off the binance.US platform. This Airdrop move is just to allow the BOBA tokens to pass through Binace.US into eligible user wallets with ease.
The BOBA token is a governance token by OMG Foundation to support the BOBA network. It can be staked for rewards. The airdrop will happen possibly one week after the snapshot. The Boba network will confirm the participating networks later. This is a move to incentivize the use of the Boba network just so the customers know they are being adequately rewarded. This is in alignment with Boba’s network goal of becoming a community-driven, dece-bobantralized project.
