A new report surfaced online shows that Satoshi Nakamoto’s brainchild has surpassed Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Kim Kardashian in terms of popularity. The world’s largest digital asset is also the single most searched phenomenon on Google, followed by Trump, Musk, and Kardashian. The trends on Google search are one of the most organic indicators of popularity. Let’s make a one-on-one comparison between Bitcoin and others.
- Bitcoin vs. Trump:
Donald Trump comes in the second most searched topic on Google. The American president has been one of the most polarizing political figures in recent history and has managed to be in the new, though not necessarily for the right reasons. In the last 12 months, Bitcoin has maintained a lead over Trump, while the latter managed to take the Numero Uno 11 times.
However, as the bulls came back roaring in 2019, Bitcoin managed to be on the top since the beginning of this year. Despite the Sino-US trade war intensifying after Trump’s controversial decisions, he couldn’t surpass Bitcoin. Understandably, Trump’s is more popular than Bitcoin in the US and neighboring countries, while the latter holds its ground in Europe, Asia, and South America.
- Bitcoin vs. Elon Musk:
Tesla chief is one of the greatest scientists in the 21st century, and is always in the news, mostly for good reasons. Since April, Musk has gained significant popularity in the crypto space, after he involved himself in conversations about Dogecoin and Ethereum on Twitter. In fact, he has been a long-time supporter of cryptocurrencies.
Musk’s company, Tesla, has occasionally surpassed Bitcoin in terms of popularity, though Bitcoin’s peak remains way up than Tesla. Particularly in the second half of 2018, Tesla way ahead of Bitcoin for the most part, however, Bitcoin recovered significantly since the beginning of this year due to the bull market return.
- Bitcoin vs. Kim Kardashian:
There’s a unique relation between the trends of Bitcoin and Kim Kardashian, which is termed as a “dubious correlation.” What this essentially means that the rise and fall pattern of both the contenders have been quite similar, though nothing is common in them. While Bitcoin is a leading cryptocurrency, Kim Kardashian is a pop culture celebrity.
Bitcoin has been ahead of Kardashian throughout the year, despite having similar patterns. The survey report suggests that people search for Bitcoins and Kim Kardashian more when they look for a break from reality.
