BitMEX Appoints Hong Kong Regulator as the new Chief Operating Officer

BitMEX, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges, now appoints an expert Hong Kong financial regulator, Angelina Kwan on the position of Chief Operating Officer in the crypto exchange giant. The reports seem to indicate this step being a positive effort when it comes to an understanding of the global platform of regulatory landscapes with the help of a veteran who already knows much about the field.

BitMEX has never failed to veer away from headlines as it is always making intelligent decisions to help their company grow better regarding the evolving digital economy. But like many other cryptocurrency exchanges, the firm also decided to make an expert hire from the big names of traditional financing economy. It explains the company’s decision to hire regulatory expert Angelina Kwan for the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Angelina Kwan formerly worked for the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing from 2015 till this year. Among the vast expanses she held, she worked as the head and managing director of regulatory compliance for the financial services company. Kwan also worked for various brokerage firms in the past as a certified public accountant.

The crypto exchange firm has set their new expectations as they believe that the new hire for COO will help the company to stay amenable with the current and upcoming projects in the realm of global cryptocurrency regulations. The statements below are from Kwan as she spoke with the South China Morning Post on a telephonic interview regarding her new status and what the firm expects from her.

She said, “I hope my previous experience will help in establishing a constructive dialogue with the various regulatory authorities around the world over the development of regulation in the cryptocurrency industry.” Moreover, Kwan spoke about the existing regulations of the cryptocurrency industry.

She believes that the major reason why investors are backing away from digital asset exposure, such as Bitcoin, is the lack of regulatory oversight. However, the crypto exchange BitMEX could grow and develop with much-needed space provided from the U.S. regulatory environment.

The new Chief Operating Officer was clear about her new roles in the firm, and she hopes to actively work at diminishing the gap between crypto regulations and the digital economy. Kwan will work with several global financial regulators to put forth her idea of a sensible approach so that they don’t take away the vast potential that the sector and its innovation ensure.

Last week CryptoNewsZ reported how several cryptocurrency exchanges found their new headquarters in the heart of Hong Kong city and proved their abilities by renting out the most expensive skyscrapers of the region and BitMEX was one of the crypto giant firms to do so. According to our observation, things are looking up for cryptocurrency exchanges despite the volatile forces working their way in the market, and we are expecting positive changes in the economy shortly.
