As we know, around six months ago, a giant crypto firm Tron had acquired Peer-to-peer (p2p) torrent client BitTorrent. Last month, BitTorrent introduced its native token, BitTorrent Token (BTT), which was based on the Tron protocol.

A new update has come into light that a crypto payments gateway named CoinPayments will support the native token of BitTorrent. The recently launched token BTT is a TRC-10 token, designed to integrate with the BitTorrent protocol. For BitTorrent, the token launch became its first strong move towards tokenizing its content sharing platform. Additionally, the support provided by CoinPayments to the token will allow Millions of customers around the world to use the BitTorrent (BTT) token for payment of goods and services from hundreds of online merchants.

BitTorrent is already working with CoinPayments, as the payment platform supports Tron (TRX), Bitcoin (BTC) and Binance Coin (BNB) payments, particularly for premium services. The addition of BTT on CoinPayments will enable the users to pay the token (BTT) for BitTorrent and µTorrent Pro subscriptions. These two platforms offer services such as file conversion, HD quality streaming and malware protection.

Here, the CEO and founder at Tron, Justin Sun noted that the aim of this collaboration is to “make BTT liquid in the online marketplace before the token is fully integrated into our desktop and mobile products.” Also, BitTorrent emphasized ‘an ad-free experience for users’ as one more advantage of the BTT inclusion on CoinPayments.

Moreover, when Tron acquired BitTorrent, the CEO said,

“With the integration, TRON aims to liberate the Internet from the stranglehold of large corporations, give data rights back to the individual, and reignite the early 21st century vision of a free, transparent, decentralized network to connect the world, because the internet belongs to the people.”

Notably, Tron and BitTorrent are jointly working on a project named “Project Atlas, ” which will allow users to gain and spend cryptos while sharing files.

BitTorrent has designed a roadmap for this year to expedite its development. The famous peer-to-peer [P2P] file sharing platform will come up with “BitTorrent Speed” this summer. The planned product is expected to operate as part of BitTorrent’s Windows-based µTorrent Classic client. It will help to support faster download times.
