Covid-19 Is No Joke: Cameron van der Burgh

Cameron van der Burgh Suffers from Covid-19

As the total number of coronavirus cases increase persistently, some of the well-known personalities from the entertainment and sports industry have gone on record and confirmed their suffrage due to the coronavirus.

Cameron van der Burgh, a South African, Olympic Gold and Silver Medalist Swimmer, tweeted about his personal experience of how Coronavirus has been affecting him. In his tweet, he talks about how it affects an athlete’s health and how it is going to make a difference for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo this year.

Cameron has been suffering from Covid-19 for the past 14 days now. According to him, this has been the worst virus he has ever come across despite being a healthy individual with a proper and well maintained healthy lifestyle.

The severe symptoms such as extreme fever have been in control. He, however, insisted that he still struggles with fatigue and cough. He is left exhausted doing basic physical tasks. Cameron states that the athletes coming in contact with the virus are suffering a loss in body conditioning after their last training cycle.

Since there is no confirmation for the re-summer games, the athletes will be continuing with their training. Cameron suggests that Covid-19 is not something to be taken lightly, it is not a joke. Our health is more important than anything else. We need to look after ourselves.

The International Olympics Committee is still unable to decide on the postponement of the 2020 Summer Olympics. Whereas the Canadian Government has made a very firm decision not to send their athletes to Tokyo Olympics 2020. It’s not just the Olympics, movie launches, concerts, festivals and all conferences around the world are being either rescheduled or canceled due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Each and everyone is prioritizing to save themselves and the environment during this ongoing pandemic. We as responsible citizens should take a note from the celebs on how much it is important to stay home and stay safe. We’ve got no choice other than following what our authorities are advising us to do. Covid-19 is definitely no joke.
