Ecstasy Drugs Case Lead to $1.5 Million Cryptocurrency Seizure in Western Australia

In another astounding incident of drug trafficking, the Australian Border Force (ABF) surveillance officers had seized MDMA ecstasy tablets and powder, concealed in a kid’s electronic toy package. This inquiry leads the Australian police to seize $1, 524,102 worth of cryptocurrencies from the accused couple.

The ecstasy drugs package was supposed to be delivered to a young couple in Perth north metropolitan region and had been dispatched from the UK.

As per the WA reports, the toy painting package consists of 27.5 gm of MDMA power and almost the same quantity of MDMA tablets was taken into custody during the screening of daily international mail. During the further inquiry, WA police raided the couple’s home on Charing Crescent in Marangaroo and discovered approximately $1.5 million worth of cryptocurrencies hidden in an electronic gadget along with the cannabis items.

In this drug bust operation, a 25-year-old woman and 27-year-old man have been arrested and the assets and the drugs are kept under court custody till the proceedings.

Paul Matthews, Detective Senior Sergeant and Officer in charge of the Drugs and Firearms Squad, commented that it is supposed to be the greatest valued property seizure.

He further added, “While WA Police force has seized millions of dollars’ worth of physical property and bank account assets in the course of several drug investigations, particularly those involving established criminal networks, the identification and freezing of over $1.5 million of cryptocurrencies in these circumstances highlights the current digital environment in which law enforcement agencies must operate.”

The accused have been refused the bail and will face the next court hearing on Wednesday.
