IBM Partners With Ethos Veterinary Health Subsidiary to Aid Practitioner’s Credentials System

Globally reputed technology and software giant firm, IBM has made an announcement about its collaboration with VetBloom, a subsidiary of U.S-based veterinary health organization Ethos Veterinary Health. The strategic partnership will help VetBloom in the creation and management of a veterinary practitioner’s credentials in an immutable record ledger system.

According to the press statement released by the firms, IBM will be working with VetBloom- the digital learning solution of Ethos Veterinary Health, to launch a blockchain-oriented system of credentials for the vet industry. As a part of the highly anticipated initiative, the practitioners will be rewarded with digital badges after the successful completion of their educational tasks. With the use of decentralized technology, the solution will render the education ecosystem with an immutable, untampered record of each and every practitioner’s credentials.

Apart from IBM and VetBloom, there are also some other leading names belonging to the US veterinary industry, which are working on the project. Some of the partner names involved in the project include the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC), the International Council for Veterinary Assessment (ICVA), and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). An announcement concerning the addition of other entities is also expected in the coming week.

Alex Kaplan, the Global leader of Blockchain and AI for Credentials of IBM, stated that,

“It has been incredibly rewarding to work with VetBloom and the other collaborating entities in the veterinary learning space over the past year.”

The press release revealed that the firms have already created a working product but are planning to come up with a second version of the solution. As a part of the short-term motive of the project, the firms are keen on bringing more participants on board, along with the development of the governance structure of the project.

Patrick Welch, founder of VetBloom and Chief Knowledge Officer of Ethos Veterinary Health, stated,

“We have worked diligently with IBM over the last year to bring key industry stakeholders into this initiative, creating a veterinary ecosystem that will join IBM’s broader work around learning credentials and blockchain.”
