Indigo Ready To Offer Business Class For Europe-Asia Flyers

IndiGo

As a first step to enter the Euro-Asia market, IndiGo plans to offer business class seats at an affordable price. Currently, IndiGo offers international flights to Istanbul, Turkey. The airline is now expecting to start the first service to Europe in the next six months, and it will be a one-stop flight, said by Ronojoy Dutta, the CEO of IndiGo.

IndiGo has become a quick favorite to all because of its punctual flights at affordable rates. CEO Dutta plans to give passengers relief from long flights, and he is considering everything starting from providing an extra snack and new business class. As per Dutta, during an 8-hour flight, people tend to use washrooms more, and they would require enough food to stay clear. By redesigning IndiGo flights, he offers comfort to all the passengers.

The long-distance market between Europe and Asia has been successfully maintained by airlines such as Singapore Airlines Ltd, Emirates Airline, British Airways, and Cathay Pacific Airways. If the market value is considered, then IndiGo holds their head high. Many other airlines have tried their luck by entering the Euro-Asia market and did not succeed. Norwegian Air Shuttle has suffered losses after expanding its business to intercontinental routes. AirAsia Airlines also incurred losses and decides only to focus on Asia; however; they still fly to Honolulu. Both airlines offer their passengers meals, extra legroom, and in-flight entertainment.

Singapore Airlines budget unit scoot offers long-distance flights to Athens and Berlin. The airline offers premium services like a leather seat, additional carry-on bags, and more legroom. An additional advantage given by scoot is that the Business class passengers can charge their gadgets on board.

If IndiGo launches its Business class services, they may have to look into other costs such as fuel charges as the consumption will be more for long distance flights. IndiGo is in talks to buy a newer version of European planemaker’s new narrow-body jet.  The Business class of IndiGo is planning to follow the rival airline SpiceJet Ltd which has now started offering premium seats.

On Wednesday, IndiGo per share valued at Rs 1607.75, which is the highest level of share value in the month. As of now, IndiGo operates 53 domestic flights and 18 international flights. IndiGo has also planned to deploy its crew to international routes. Dutta said that the profit of the airline business is based on the length of flying.
