Mercedes to Launch NFT Collection for Its G-Class

The craze of non-fungible tokens has taken the entire crypto industry by storm. In fact, NFTs are increasingly becoming instrumental in making digital currencies a mainstay of today’s economic scenario. Many well-known organizations are adopting NFTs, and the latest to join the bandwagon is the luxury car maker Mercedes Benz.

In a recent tweet, Mercedes has announced that it has collaborated with Art2People in order to create the NFT collection for its G-Class line of vehicles. A total of five artists have worked on this particular NFT collection, and as a result of their efforts, unique designs have now emerged for each artwork.

The selection of artists has been made very carefully by the organization. They have been specifically chosen from different fields such as music, architecture, graphic design, creative marketing, real estate, and luxury design. This has been done to make sure that the diversity of the creations will remain intact and every field of the art is well-represented by the NFT collection.

This is also a good thing from the perspective of getting exposure as artists from a variety of fields have got opportunities to showcase their potential on a wonderful platform. The name of the artists who becomes part of this initiative includes Charlotte Taylor, Roger Kilimanjaro, Anthony Authie, Antoni Tudisco, and Baugasm. The launch of these tokens will take place on Sunday when Mercedes will finally unveil these to the public.

As mentioned above, Mercedes is not the first auto company that has invested in the creation of NFTs. Before the German luxury carmaker, we have witnessed a number of other companies from the automobile industry, too, that have taken the plunge into the segment. These names include McLaren which has expressed its intention to use NFTs for creating the digital version of its legendary automobiles.

Similarly, Coca-Cola had also launched its unique NFT last year in order to raise the funds for the Special Olympics International game. Similarly, there are many other names, including famous players, celebrities, and media personalities, who have shown keen interest in the NFTs and launched their own collection in the virtual space.

For Mercedes, it is not the company’s first exposure to blockchain technology. The luxury carmaker has already had experimented with blockchain technology in its supply chain and logistics department. The company has teamed up with a Circular blockchain startup in order to track the emissions related to the Cobalt. This has been done to help the company assess and evaluate the real impact of its manufacturing practices on the environment and greenhouse gas emissions.
