NEO Joins the .NET Foundation as the First Blockchain Project

As per the official press release published on NEO’s official blog, dated September 24, 2019, NEO has become the first blockchain project to have joined the .NET Foundation. NEO made the announcement during the ongoing .NET Conference. Both the entities envision to empower developers further in building the next-generation Internet foundation.

The collaboration has taken place after the release of Blockchain Toolkit for .NET and NEO Express by NEO in the ongoing month.

It is important to note that both NEO and .NET Foundation are open-source in nature. The latter is an independent, non-profit entity developed by Microsoft that works towards promoting .NET ecosystem adoption as well as innovation. NEO, on the other hand, has its core built-in C# that is integrated heavily with .NET framework.

The .NET Foundation’s Executive Director, John Galloway, came forward to express his views on this new partnership saying they are thrilled to have them aboard. As per Galloway, NEO’s a pioneer when it comes to adopting the platform of .NET, and it will have their full support in developing a decentralized innovative platform as well as the developer community.

John deVadoss, NGD (NEO Global Development) Seattle’s Head, stated during the conference that they are thrilled to partner with the .NET Foundation as the 1st blockchain project based on their shared dedication to developers, open-source, and the global community collaboration. He was further quoted saying,

Based on our shared core values and principles, I am confident that this partnership will accelerate developer innovation to drive mass adoption of blockchain and build the foundation for the next-gen Internet.

What’s more, NEO also shared its Blockchain Toolkit preview for NEO Express and .NET. It aims at kickstarting the development of smart contracts and innovative decentralized applications by incorporating a number of capabilities, including NEO Smart Contract Debugger, NEO Smart Contract Compiler Enhancements, NEO Express, NEO Visual DevTracker, and NEO-FX Library.

While speaking on NEO’s Toolkit for .NET, NEO’s Founder, Erik Zhang, expressed their joy on this new feat. He said that going forward, they are anticipating close collaboration with the .NET Foundation for delivering the blockchain infrastructure that is the most developer-friendly for all the .NET developers like demonstrated by their recently unveiled .NET Blockchain Toolkit.
