Official Date of Chrysalis Network Migration Announced by IOTA

The process of making the IOTA protocol production-ready is heading towards its finalization. The final phase of the upgradation process is already live, and according to the latest announcement by the IOTA foundation, the Chrysalis network migration will finally start on Wednesday, 21st April 2021. There will be a gap of seven days that will allow the users and token custodians to plan their migration well ahead of the official network upgrade, which means that the network upgrade itself will officially be in effect from April 28, 2021.

The Chrysalis testnet has been operational since December 2020, and over time, the network had witnessed a number of components added to its infrastructure to make it complete with Chrysalis specifications. The documentation related to the app development is already available for developers and can be referred to before starting the process of app development on the Chrysalis network.

IOTA has built its entire tech stack again from scratch, including the node, wallet, and libraries. This is to bring credibility to the whole process. Multiple audits have been conducted by the three independent organizations. These audits have been further peer-reviewed, and desirable modifications have been conducted to further optimize the system.

Firefly will guide the holders through the process of token migration, and its integration will make sure that migration takes place in a completely seamless manner. During the transition process, new destination addresses will be automatically created by the wallet, and a new interface that will take users through the process is integrated to keep the process simple and uncomplicated. Users need to note that the beta version of the Firefly will only allow the user to undertake the migration process after April 21, 2021. The technical aspects of the network upgrade are ready. The current extension in dates is to allow exchanges adequate time to enable a smooth and secure transition into a new and exciting future with much higher performance, stability, reliability, and security. IOTA foundation recommends that the official wallet must only be downloaded either from the https://chrysalis.iota.org or https://iota.org.
