Partnership Between VET, Norway In A Box and DNV GL To Offer Blockchain Services To China’s Food Import Market

VET (VeChain) recently declared that it is entering into a well thought out partnership with two companies – Norway In A Box and DNV GL to develop a reliable platform that will verify the quality of the food products that China imports from Norway as well as Northern European nations.

The official announcement was made by the VeChain Foundation on 8th April on Medium. The Foundation stated that the 3 companies were collaborating to ensure the superior quality of all the Norwegian products entering into the market of China. These products include water, supplements, home furnishings, seafood, and much more.

As VeChain is recognized for offering trusted and decentralized blockchain technology, consumers would easily be able to track the entire journey of these products, right from its pick-up point to the end-point where it reaches them.

Why Blockchain Solution For Norwegian Products?

At present, the food imports that enter the market of China are going through great safety concerns, making the industry even more challenging. Moreover, the procedures of safety, validation and verification during the food processing activity are stringent and complex, even with the evolutions of the digital world.

That’s where blockchain offers a solution as it proves to be a reliable, secure, immutable and transparent platform. The use of blockchain technology will allow users to keep tabs on food processing with the help of a trackable path. In addition, the collection of data will be assured by the third-parties which will make the supply chain more transparent.

How Will it Work?

DNV GL has launched its app called My Story last year through the platform of VeChainThor Blockchain. The application not only facilitates blockchain entries but also carries out a secure collection of data to share the complete product lifecycle with their consumers. Primarily, the three firms will work on importing the Norwegian salmon amongst the list of other seafood. The application, for example, will register the exact moment when the fish was caught right until it was packaged. With such transparency offered by blockchain, consumers will have added trust in the brands and products they are choosing.

Once the products are shipped from Norway to China, they will get added to an online platform for shopping created by the other partner Norway In A Box. Through this platform, consumers will be able to buy the products including seafood. On the other hand, restaurants would be eligible for direct shipments.

Consumers can utilize the platform of VeChainThor Blockchain to scan the product’s QR code which will provide them with all the necessary information regarding the processing details of that particular product. As each product will have its unique ID, the verification process would be easier and smoother.

What’s interesting is that the VeChain blockchain offers immutable and permanent record for each and every product data that’s registered on the blockchain. So once the data about products is entered, there’s no way to modify it which eventually makes the validation and the products all the more reliable. The recorded data will include information such as product’s origin, authenticity, product quality, animal welfare, ecological footprint and workers’ rights.

Additionally, the product information, activities and processes will also be audited by the platform for validating the process of data capturing. All the three involved parties will remain active in enhancing the platform with newer functionalities, products, and transparency features as it will continue to scale in future.
