The Charles Schwab Corporation has published its Monthly Activity Report for October 2022. It has placed three factors at the center of the report. These three factors are net assets acquired, total client assets, and average interest-earning assets.
The new assets brought in over the previous month, October 2022, have been added by both new and existing clients. The whole amount is $42 billion. There are $33.9 billion in net new assets, excluding mutual funds.
In October 2022, total client assets climbed by 5% from September 2022 to reach $7 trillion. However, the image is not as vivid as it appears to be. Compared to the previous year, there is a 12% decline. The number was rather high compared to the same month the previous year.
What adds to this worry is the stats presented for average interest-earning assets. October reported a mark of $552.6 billion. This is down by 4% when compared to October 2021 and down by 3% against September 2022. The figure remains consistent with the projections outlined in the 2022 Fall Business Update.
