Eminem and Snoop Dogg to Give a Metaverse-Inspired Performance at MTV VMAs

This Sunday, August 28, during the MTV Video Award show, Snoop Dogg and Eminem will sing their most recent collaboration, “From The D 2 The LBC,” on stage once more. The duo’s presence will be influenced by “the world of the Otherside metaverse” and arranged in collaboration with Yuga Labs, a crypto and NFT startup better remembered for the Bored Apes project. Web3-enabled virtual realities and enormously multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) are combined in Otherside. This online video game has not yet been made available to the general public and does not have a planned release date.

When it debuts, the game will be inextricably linked to the digital currency ApeCoin and heavily emphasize NFTs. The VMAs, which will be held at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, will feature a live performance by Dogg and Eminem on the stage, with no apparent connection to Otherside.

It will be their 2nd appearance with Yuga Labs & 3rd combined performance of the year after appearing alongside Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, and Anderson in the 2022 Super Bowl. Paak, the couple reconnected in June at ApeFest in New York, a music event only accessible to owners of Bored Ape NFTs.

They debuted the song “From The D 2 The LBC,” published that week along with a video clip that included figures from Bored Ape. The song is included in Eminem’s most recent collection, “Curtain Call 2”. Snoop, Eminem, and Dr. Dre were photographed in the studios earlier in the month. The group posed for a picture photograph in front of a mixing desk and a sizable set of speakers. It happened after Snoop hinted that he and Dre were cooking up a bit of something while developing new music.

On Monday, August 22, it was announced that The Red Hot Chili Peppers would receive the Global Icon Award during this year’s VMAs.

They will also perform during the event, featuring performances by Lizzo, BLACKPINK, Mneskin, Panic! At The Disco, and others. Nicki, Jack Harlow, and LL Cool J will co-host the event. The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards will take place in the Prudential Center in New Jersey on August 28, making it one of music’s greatest evenings of the year. With 7 nominations, Lil Nas X, Lamar, and Jack Harlow are in the lead, followed by Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, and The Weeknd.

The Yuga Labs website claims its network is a platform where fans and players are the masters and producers. They think that by starting with imagination rather than constraints, the potential of web3 may be achieved. The upcoming performance by Snoop and Eminem will represent the first time in more than ten years that both emcees have appeared at the VMAs.
