The Boxer, Manny Pacquiao Launches the First Celebrity Cryptocurrency on GCOX

WBA Welterweight Super Champion, Manny Pacquiao launched his very own cryptocurrency, with financial assistance from private investors such as Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed al-Nahyan, who is a member of the Abu Dhabi’s ruling family, and ex-Liverpool and England soccer player Michael Owen.

The 40-year-old-Philippines boxer turned singer and politician launched his crypto tokens, “Pac,” at a free concert in Manila. This was his first major show as a singer. He appealed more than 2,000 fans to show interest in his crypto product.

In the concert, Pacquiao vocalized some of the songs from his album which had sold thousands of copies and covered many popular love songs.

A few concert attendees were asked about the new cryptocurrency launched by their adored singer. One of the fans, Aaron Baetiong, 38, said,

Pacquiao is idolized by many. People will be encouraged to check this innovation.

The “Pac” token will be listed on Singapore’s GCOX exchange. These tokens will allow Manny Pacquiao fans to buy his merchandise and would enable them to communicate with the boxer over social media.

GCOX is a licensed cryptocurrency exchange that provides celebrities with a platform to issue their personalized tokens as a means to connect with their fans. This enables celebrities to sell their merchandises and engage in charitable projects through the GCOX website.

“We are not here to raise a lot of money but to build an ecosystem,” Jeffrey Li, the Founder, and CEO of GCOX announced in an interview.

It had been previously reported that American singer-songwriter Jason Derulo, also has plans of launching his cryptocurrency on the Global Crypto Offering Exchange platform.

Evan Ngow, the chief communications officer of GCOX, spoke at the time,

We are committed to assembling a diverse, multi-talented array of stars at GCOX, and Jason will certainly not be the last musician to join our ranks.

In a GCOX report, they pointed out that its ‘technology is built on the Acclaim blockchain and is designed to benefit celebrities at different points in their career.’

Michael Owen and the Tennis ace, Caroline Wozniacki has also expressed their plans to launch their crypto tokens on the Global Crypto Offering Exchange space. But for now, “Pac” is the only celebrity cryptocurrency listed in the GCOX platform.
