Usman Wahid and Kate Eades Appointed as Partners at KPMG Legal

Some of the biggest corporations in the world now need thorough insights on every aspect of their business in order to stay ahead of their competitors, and those key insights are delivered by consultancy firms. There are a handful of consultancy firms in the world which provide their services to a large number of companies, and KPMG remains one of the biggest within that selected group. While such firms are primarily known for providing their insights on a wide range of business issues, many consultancy firms are now increasingly getting into corporate law in a big way. Over the years, KPMG Global Legal Services has strengthened its credentials as a top-notch law firm and has made significant inroads into its ultimate target of putting pressure on the main law firms in the United Kingdom.

In a new development, Kate Eades and Usman Wahid as partners at the legal arm of the consultancy giant. Eades has an experience of around a decade and a half in corporate law. Prior to joining KPMG, she had been a partner in Greenburg Traurig. She had also served as a solicitor at the firm Mayer Brown. On the other hand, Wahid is a specialist in information technology, tech, and outsourcing. Before joining KPMG, he had been a partner at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner. The new appointments show that KPMG is more serious than ever with regards to the continued growth of its legal arm. Due to its already existing relationships with some of the biggest companies in the world, the consultancy firm could not use it to further grow its legal business.

KPMG Global Legal Services has grown at a highly impressive rate for the past few years. In 2018 alone, it generated growth of 30%, and if it can continue to grow at that rate, then it would not be long before it poses a major challenge to the established corporate law firms. At this point of time, the company has as many as 2300 law professionals in its payrolls all over the world, and in 2018 alone, it added a total of 20 partners. These are figures that show that the company is moving in the right direction and the next few years are going to be critical if it is to challenge the big law firms.
