VeChain Teams up With Adidas, SBTG And Game Of Thrones, To provide NFC Chips To Help Making GoT Themed Sneakers

The 8th and final episode of Game of Thrones (GoT) is all set for release, and to celebrate that, HBO Asia and Singaporean Sneaker Designer SBTG has collaborated to design four bespoke sneakers based on the theme of GoT.

According to VeChain News, for maintaining the authenticity of these pairs, the Singaporean blockchain-based supply chain management platform, VeChain has been asked to provide NFC chips which shall be embedded in the shoes. These chips will not only help provide authenticity and legitimacy but will also be loaded with behind the scene videos of each of the pairs, which can be accessed through a mobile app.

This is a great opportunity for VeChain and proves the popularity of blockchain is expanding across industries. As a matter of fact, VeChain has been on an adoption spree for the past few weeks. It is also expected to partner with one of the four accounting and consulting company, Deloitte.

VeChain a DLT platform focused on enhancing supply chain management processes. The platform empowers sellers and end-users to determine the quality and authenticity of products being traded. Blockchain technology at large is being adopted in various E-Commerce functions, one of them being logistics or supply chain management. Logistics industry leaders like FedEx, UPS, and DHL have adopted DLT, and results have been quite encouraging.

Similarly, e-commerce giants like Amazon and Alibaba have also implemented blockchain technology in their operations. Exposure to a program as iconic and big as Game of Thrones will definitely be a great learning experience for VeChain. The four custom-designed sneakers will go on display from April 17 to 20, at the Limited Edt Store, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

SBTG is owned by renowned sneaker artist and streetwear designer, Mr. Sabotage (Mark Ong) and his wife Mrs. Sabotage (Sue-Anne Lim). Ong has designed sneakers for famous celebrities including Kobe Bryant, Stephen Curry, and Mike Shinoda. These shoes will not be for sale but will be awarded via a contest, which ends on April 25.

VeChain’s inclusion for this collaboration is a significant step forward for the blockchain industry, which till now has more or less been limited to enthusiasts only. A recent study by KPMG showed that about 60% of corporations worldwide hadn’t used blockchain yet, though they intend to do it. This shows that there is huge scope for the industry to grow, especially in the entertainment and other piracy-prone businesses.

Game of Thrones, arguably the most popular web series of all time, is heading into its final season, which will go live on HBO from 15th April. Post-release, the competition for the custom sneakers will begin.

VeChain’s NFC (Near Field Communication) chips that don’t require electricity as they are passive tags. Adding blockchain technology to these chips has proved to be a vital and cost-effective technology upgrade, which enables buyers, especially from remote areas to verify authenticity for the products they buy.
