Opera Enables Crypto Buying Service for Users in Norway and Denmark

Opera Ltd is one of the largest web browser managing firm. Widely used browser, Opera’s Android version is going to feature a function, through which a user can purchase Ethereum (ETH) using the browser.

The new service will allow its user base to buy cryptocurrency directly within its mobile app. The function is enabled for users residing in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The service is also expanded to Scandinavia. It is available in mentioned regions due to Opera’s latest collaboration with Sweden’s online cryptocurrency brokerage firm Safello. Opera says that Safello is registered with Sweden’s financial authorities, the Financial Supervisory Authority (FSA).

Talking about the new update in the browser, the Product Lead for Crypto at Opera, Charles Hamel said,

“We think that the next important phase for crypto will come from usage and that for it to reach wider adoption, it has to be easy to buy and easy to use.” He added, “We believe that the browser will be the entry point for these use cases. Thanks to our partnership with Safello, we are taking one more step towards this vision.”

Moreover, Opera’s senior PR manager, Julia Szyndzielorz reportedly stated that the firm’s move to include service of ETH purchasing on its browser helps users to immediately buy the cryptocurrency online. Also, the announcement from the firm emphasizes that users in Sweden will be in benefit as they will get a discounted fee of 2.5 percent from Safello for certain time-limit. Along with that, Norway and Denmark users will get a discounted fee of 5 percent. The announcement adds that to avail the new crypto wallet top-up feature in Opera for Android, Sweden, Norway and Denmark users can download the app from Google Play store.

Additionally, Safello will be responsible for operations such as verification of users who purchase using Sweden’s BankID and Denmark’s NemID citizens’ identity solutions. Opera’s partner Safello’s CEO, Frank Schuil noted,

“With Safello brokerage on the Opera mobile browser for Android, both new and experienced users can now easily transact cryptocurrencies in the most secure and fastest way possible. The functionality to purchase crypto is right at their fingertips.”

Based in Norway, Opera is a worldwide spread browser, which holds a large user base of around 320 million people. Back in December, the company introduced its “Web 3-ready” Android web browser wallet.
